What is qvik?

Qvik is a new payment method based on the Instant Payment System, allowing anyone to conveniently provide electronic payment options, even without a card terminal, for online sales.

To use qvik payments, a payment service provider is required, capable of providing the necessary infrastructure for qvik payments and executing the processes with the expected quality and security. Innopay Plc., together with GIRO Plc., issues certification for this. Registered providers in the qvik operating model are called Sub-Aggregators; they are responsible for generating QR codes, NFC signals, or payment links, settling payments, and contracting and maintaining relationships with merchants.

Among the available payment options (website, cash register), qvik payment should also be included as an option for customers.

As a merchant, you can choose the most suitable qvik payment method to implement based on different sales situations and the payment tools used:

  • qvik payment can be initiated by the payer's mobile phone reading the payment data in the form of an NFC signal,
  • or by using the mobile phone's camera to scan a QR code from a display or paper,
  • or you can even send a payment link online for the payment, or display the QR code on the website.

Why is it beneficial for the merchant to provide the payment solution?

Providing qvik payment can be a new, innovative electronic payment alternative that, in certain situations, is more convenient for the payer than paying with a bank card or cash. As a merchant, an additional advantage is that, depending on the contract with the Sub-Aggregator service provider, the money can be credited to the business's current account almost immediately, within 10 seconds, so there is no need to wait days for the completion. However, if the merchant chooses batch settlement, the settlement works the same way as we are used to with bank card settlement, but for this payment, every bank must ensure the settlement procedure according to the recommendation issued by the HNB (Hungarian National Bank), which states that the credit must be made no later than the IG2 banking business day following the receipt of the transaction's consideration.

Considering that for Sub-Aggregators, the provision of the service does not incur costs arising from card usage, unlike card systems, they can likely offer the service to merchants at a significant price advantage. You can inquire about the offers of individual banks through their sales channels. It is important that the execution of payments with qvik does not have to be the same as with the current card-accepting bank. (Card-independent separate process and infrastructure.)

How can it be ensured, what is needed for it?

As a payment method, it must be made available to customers.

The merchant must enter into a contract with a Sub-Aggregator service provider, and for physical locations, a device capable of transmitting the chosen qvik payment method to the payer or their mobile phone is required. For online sales, no separate display-supporting device is needed. You can find the list of service providers that support qvik payment acceptance at the end of the page.
